Isaac Asimov
One of the defining stories that got
our dear friend Isaac to be such an
icon was the series collected in
"I, Robot". Up until that time, the
robot was just something that cheap
movie producers (eg, the Movie version
of Lost in Space) could "throw into
a movie, to sucker in the Sci Fi
fans). However, the good doctor saw
that Robots (like other machines) would
be engineered to not kill their creators
(as per "Rostrum's Universal Robots"
-- the original Robot story).
Enjoy!
I, Robot.
Asimov's Mysteries (SF mysteries!)
The Rest of the Robots
Foundation (possibly the greatest
epic of the 20th century)
and of course his science essays:
Of Time, Space and Other Things
A Whiff of Death (SF mystery,
with much Chemistry!!)
Building Blocks of The Universe
(more chemistry made fun!)
Only a Trillion
View From A Height
And the superb Sci-Fi / Medical book:
Fantastic Voyage
The Film: Fantasic Voyage
Also, don't miss Isaac's younger
brother's ONLY book:
"Yours, Isaac Asimov"
As Stanley put it:
"About the time when Isaac had
written 80 books, someone walked up
to me and asked me if I had
written. My answer was:
"Isaac and I have averaged about
40 books each -- 80 for him, and
none for me. The answer changed
only to reflect Isaac's increasing
number of books.
"While this book will mean that my
book count will soar to one, it
also counts as one for Isaac.
After all, they are his letters.
