MOMA FW
History
Billions of years ago, the earth was a molten mass, as this liquid
rock cooled, it began to solidify. The result is what we scientists
call ROCK. Now, about some 3.25 billion (3.25e9 years) later,
in a small part of the southwest, around about tea time on a
thursday, several of us were sitting out by the horse trough down
on Berry Street (thar warn't no east or west berry street, it was
jest plano berry street), and so, sez Uncle Paul: Why don't we
build one of them new fangled art museums, like they got over
there in Dallas. Sez Grampa dweezle, Why shucks, we can't aford
none of that fancy stuff. I mean I heard tell that on of those Jaquez
David's cost pert nere $2000 !!! Over near the water barrel old
Zeke was a snoozin', and then his wife comes out from the kitchen
and sez, Well, why don't we put all of our pictures in there that we
bought last summer when we visited Paris last year. Like that
Cezzanne piece, I really like all of those colors. I mean I know it
ain't as fancy as all that really good art that they got over there
in the real museum. But, least ways people round abouts could
come and see what it's like in Paris. And we could call Willy's
Uncle Alfred up in New York and see if he couldn't send us some of
those photos that he took while he was over there. I mean,
we can't compete with all of that Dallas Money, but least ways
we could have a sort of modern art museum. It was at this
point, that everyone thought it was a pretty good idea. Well,
accepting Mr. Grant who thought that we'd just be making
fools of ourselves, putting up all of those Cezane's, Gaugan's
and all of that cheap art that most folks picked up in Paris along
that Seine River. Me personally? Why I've always liked the new
and different. Different is good; it's not boring.
(well, least ways, that's the way *i* remember it ;)
