Kushain Art
Previously refered to as Nubia, Kush was the uppermost
(southern-most on the Nile) during the
SPECULATIONS by your current narrator.
I would say that like lower egypt, just having the Nile
as a resource meant a civilising influence on the Kushains.
Thus, like the other great river civilisations (Mesopotamia,
Indus River, etc) it brought a geographic stability and
allowed for the development of culture; ie, the arts.
Once the commerce from the Mediteranean started carrying
over the findings/culture/etc of not only Babylon, but
later India as well this spring boarded Kush ahead of
the usual tribal levels of civilisation. That is, the
influx of ideas spurred the growth of new ideas (Hegel)
and lead to the great leaps forward. And (in my
humble view) when the lower nile revolts began for
a long time (possibly well into the Roman period)
Kush maintained its independence and civilisation.
But, then as with all areas, they became more
civilised and thus more susceptable to barbaric
invasion. Whether this came from the neighboring
tribes or from invading concquerers Southward on
the Nile, only further research (on your humble
narrator's part) will tell.
Regardless, the glory that was once Kush is as
great (if not greater than) the glory that was
once Greece -- and as far as we know, without
all of that nasty slave stuff!
